One dimensional model for methane fueled gas turbine combustors

Note:
A steady one-dimensional model of a can-type combustor has been developed in order to obtain an evaluation of the combustion chamber behaviour of a gas turbine, according to fuel burned and its off-design operation.
For a given law of variation for fuel-to-air ratio, the model is able to compute such main flow properties, of a reacting gaseous mixture undergoing a finite ratio combustion process.
This type of analysis has not been carried out with the specific purpose of exactly predicting the performance parameters which the combustor design must deliver, but the simplified model, can provide useful information on combustor off-design behaviour.
In this way it is possible to state whether some thermodynamic solutions for overall performance improvements were well suitable in assigned combustors or whether they necessarily lead to a new combustor design.
