In recent years Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) technology has received increasing attention due to its interesting energy and environmental synergies. This paper analyses the energy and exergy aspects of a modern plant of this type presently under construction in Sicily. This permits the detection of losses in the most important plant sections and allows comparisons with similar plants installed or under study.
