Note:
This paper presents a wide range of predicted results from three different premixed natural gas fired cyclone combustors and a comparison made with the available experimental results. These comprise the multi-inlet cyclone combustor with fourteen tangential inlets; uncooled, central cooled and wall cooled units.
These systems are tested over a wide range of operating conditions and modeled using a commercial CFD code Fluent, integrated with a simple NOx post-processor previously developed at UWCC. A wide range of experimental data exists for all three types of cyclone combustors. This includes velocity measurements from Laser Doppler anemometry characterization, detailed temperature maps from thermocouple measurements and NOx concentrations from chemiluminescence.
