3D simulation of industrial scale advanced SCR reactor

In the frame of the research activity on advanced DeNOx process carried out at the ENEL-CRT, the simulation of the full-scale demonstration facility installed at ENEL S. Gilla Power Station was performed with the REC code. The determination of the fluid-dynamic, thermal and chemical fields present in the ASCR reactor enabled to evaluated the influence of the geometry of the ducts, and the characteristic of the ammonia injection system on the performances of the reactor in term of NO conversion and NH3 slip.
The results obtained have shown the importance of the numerical analysis applied to the study of industrial processes. The REC code exhibited good performances in terms of convergence and stability of the solution.
