Thermal characterization of swirl burners

Pubblicazione

Autore: W. Fick, T. O' Doherty, A.J. Griffiths, N. Syred

Collana: AA - 1996 Capri - Energy and Environment towards the year 2000

Note:
The present work describes the thermal characteristics of the rotating flame and compares this with the rotating velocity fields. Fire wire thermocouple measurements were carried out showing that the resulting calibrated temperature maps are comparable to the LDA velocity maps and some basic structures associated with the PVC can be correlated.
With the aid of flow visualization techniques a further step is currently being undertaken to investigate the mixing processes in swirling flames associated with the PVC. The results are expected to reveal the impact of this highly turbulent flame on the reduction of emissions and the capability of burning Low Calorific Value Gases.
