Evaluation of measurements reproducibility in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell

Note:
In this work an accurate methodology that allow characterization of PEFC and DMFC performance, evaluating measurements uncertainty and reproducibility, is presented. The
measurement system, composed of calibrated instruments, experimental and data elaboration procedures are described.
Measurements accuracy permits to observe and analyze a hysteresis phenomenon in both PEFC and DMFC characterization.
Comparison of different experimental analyses permit to confirm that it arises respectively from water and methanol accumulation and affects the two main issues of these technologies: water management and methanol cross-over. Hysteresis influence on measurements uncertainty and reproducibility is evaluated and commented. This study highlights that reliable results interpretation and comparison require the definition of shared experimental methodologies that include a correct evaluation of uncertainty and reproducibility
