Note:
The design of high performance heat exchanger requires the use of multi-objectives optimization techniques, able to cope with conflicting design objectives and constraints. In this paper the optimal design of a heat exchanger based on Nash
Equilibrium Game concepts is described. The Game Theory is briefly introduced and some notes about its use in optimization problems are given. An analytical test case is first discussed to illustrate application of Nash Equilibrium concepts to multi-objectives problems. The described method has been finally applied to the optimal design of a perforated annular finned tube-in-tube counter flow heat exchanger: a Nash Equilibrium heat exchanger geometrical configuration has been found and discussed.
