Numerical simulation of unsteady natural convection by blobs methods

Note:
This work describes a method for the solution of the full Navier-Stokes equations for buoyant problems under Bous-sinesq assumption. The method considers a Lagrangian formulation of the Helmholtz and energy equations where blob particles convey both vorticity and energy. The formulation, based on a splitting technique of the convective and of dif-fusive terms, considers an hyperbolic equation for the trajectory of the blobs, and 2 parabolic equations for the diffu-sive processes, of thermal energy and vorticity, along the characteristics curves (trajectories).
The method is developed, for 2D and the 3D, cases using FMM method for the computation of the velocities; the relative optimizations processes are described and the links among the various parameters of the FMM are identified. Preliminary tests are discussed to ascertain the accuracy.
Applications to the unsteady buoyant analysis, in 2D e 3D, of a vortex-thermal free patch of particles, are presented and discussed.
