Certain percentages of SO3 and H2O in Alumina (Al2O3) production exhaust gases, increase dramatically the acid gas dew point temperature, or the temperature at which precipitation of sulphuric acid (H2SO4) takes place. According SO3 and water concentrations, the acid gas dew point may be well above the normal operating temperature is over 130-140° C. A special type of corrosion protection must be foreseen to guarantee the fans their normal operating life.
