We present a simplified two-fluid model for the pressure drops during the start-up of core annular flow regime from a stratified flow regime. The possibility to restart the oil flow is essential for the actual implementation of core annular flow in pipeline transportation of highly viscous oil from the producing well to the closest refinery. A sensitivity study is carried out shoving the influence of different parameters on the transient pressure drops.
