Collana: BT - 34 - Mag 06 - Energy: production, distribution and conservation

Note:
Non catalytic partial oxidation of methane/air mixtures at elevated pressure has been experimentally studies as a hydrogen production technology. Results presented are from an optically accessible flow reactor in which detailed characterization of these reacting mixtures was performed. In particular, two unique mixtures are reported for a pressure of a 17 atm, a total flow rate of 50 slm, and at varying equivalence ratio of 3.0 and 4.0. These mixtures were mapped by non-intrusive optical methods noting key observables.
The optical methods and species measured were; infrared absorption of CH4 and H2O, chemiluminescence emission of CO2, broadband emission for temperature determination, and laser induced fluorescence of CH2O.
