Experimental validation of correlations for the estimation of beam and diffuse components of hourly radiation

Pubblicazione

Autore: M. Cucumo, A. De Rosa, V. Ferraro, D. Kaliakatsos, V. Marinelli

Collana: CA - 61 - Perugia 2006

Note:
In the paper several correlations reported in the literature for the estimation of beam and diffuse components of global hourly irradiance have been revised and compared with more than 4000 experimental data measured at Arcavacata di Rende (CS).
The comparisons show significant differences between the calculated and experimental data: the best correlations present root mean square errors larger than 29% for the estimation of the beam component and than 43% for the diffuse component.
The authors present a new approach to the problem, in which, in addition to the usual parameters, which influence the ratio between beam and diffuse irradiance and global irradiance, i.e. clearness index and sun altitude, the Linke turbidity factor is also considered.
