The hydrogen perspective is receiving a very high attention worldwide: the reason is that it seems capable to give a positive reply to two of the crucial concerns related to energy availability and consumption:

· a potential reduction of the oil dependence (a high value but finite resource)
· a drastic cut of the greenhouse gasses emissions (mostly CO2)

The main focus is on the transport applications, but the stationary applications are also involved.
The hydrogen based scenario is very complex and articulated , both from the technical solutions and the timescale. The existing roadmaps are somehow questionable.

In this framework, Ansaldo has developed a global strategy, similarly complex and articulated, which - having clear in mind a long term objective - tries also to take advantage of all the opportunities deriving from mid term targets (e.g. efficiency increases or higher reliability in energy supply). This strategy is based on autonomous technological developments, open also to third parties cooperation. The main mid-term targets belong to the distributed energy generation approach.

The presentation sketches this strategy and the already achieved results.



La prospettiva “idrogeno” è al centro dell’attenzione mondiale: la ragione è che essa sembra in grado di rispondere positivamente a due tra le maggiori preoccupazioni legate all’energia:
· Ridurre la dipendenza dal petrolio (risorsa preziosa ma non illimitata);
· Ridurre drasticamente le emissioni di gas serra (e principalmente l’anidride carbonica).

La sfida principale è negli usi finali “trasporto”, ma anche gli usi stazionari sono largamente coinvolti.
Lo scenario idrogeno, peraltro, è assai complesso e articolato, sia nelle possibili soluzioni tecniche che nella scala dei tempi.
Ansaldo ha, quindi, messo a punto una strategia altrettanto complessa e articolata che – avendo un chiaro obiettivo di lungo termine – cerca comunque di cogliere tutte le occasioni che possono derivare da obiettivi internazionali (quali gli aumenti di rendimento). Tale strategia si basa sullo sviluppo di capacità tecnologiche autonome, aperte, però alla collaborazione con terzi, e orientate, soprattutto verso la realizzazione di sistemi basati sulla generazione distribuita di energia.
L’intervento illustra la strategia complessiva e i risultati acquisiti.
