Study of evaporation proccesses in building by mean of selective infrared thermography

Pubblicazione

Collana: CA - 49 - Perugia 1994

Note:
Nondestructive measurement techniques are revealing themselves as a very important tool in the different fields of research due to their very own nature. The Materials team of ICCET is developing, some time ago, the application of infrared thermography to the followup and quantification of the moisture present in the buildings of the Architectural Heritage. Very often, the environmental conditions (high levels of humidity and CO2 in the atmosphere) can make improbably to obtain true results through Infrared Termography. With the object of solving these problems the "Selective Infrared Thermography Method" has been developed. This technique is based in the use of interferencial filters (developed by the authors) for determining the interferencial areas to analyze. The objective of the present work is to show the utility of Selective Infrared Thermography for the identification of moisture in building materials. In that experiments gypsum prisms have been subjected to evaporation proccess using some different salt dissolution at 20°C.
