Thermal flux measurement methodology and flux sensors calibration at the ETCA solar furnace

Note:
The ETCA solar furnace situated at Odeillo is used several years as a thermal radiation gauges calibration facility for the part of diverse organisms. The solar furnace being used as a thermal flux primary standard, the calibration procedure of this facility is at first described; in such a way, the sun imaging quality obtained, the flux modulator accuracy and the heat losses of the back body used during this calibration are fully investigated for they determine the calibration error margin. The mostly used flux sensor up to 600 w/cm2 at the solar furnace is GARDON type; the presentation describes the methodology used for calibrating such a fluxmeter keeping on caracterizing the diverse roots of errors which may be resulting using that kind of sensor.
